”A Chorus is Colour”

Welcome Spring!

I’m excited to be painting some of the most fascinating species in our bush lot on the barren forest floor! Before the explosion of grasses and wildflowers, comes the beauty of nature shining through! As I slosh through the decaying leaves and branches, my eyes are directed to vivid colour and textures in the mosses, algae and fungi growing abundantly around my feet!
I’ve enjoyed painting the most vivid fungi growing in a row on the heavily textured bark :)
 

I’m in the process of finishing another painting in this series that measures 36”x 36”, coming soon!

Rhythm and Blues 

A mesmerizing walk through our bush lot in early winter gave me persisting thoughts about the beauty of the light filtering through the fallen leaves and the twisted decaying grapevines.

Especially beautiful were those amazing blue grapes! With a clear mind to have these beauties shine, I created a composition that leads the eye throughout and especially to my focal area, a macro view of those delicate little berries!

Finally winter has arrived here in southern Ontario! The beautiful white scenery is breathtaking. Lots of photo opportunities and walks to the bush to see pops of colour peeking through the forest floor. The lush greens, warm earthy yellows and burnt sienna tones glistening in the sunshine between snow laden areas is simply eye candy!

i’m preparing to create a series of new work and the excitement is building! I’m hoping that you will feel the same emotion in these paintings as I feel about this enthralling subject matter!

It’s harvest time around our farm! When it’s busy in the fields, it seems that I find extra energy to be busy painting in my studio too. I’ve posted many new works on my website, check it out!

I’ve been as busy as ever enjoying the painting process!
I’m recovering from rotator cuff tears in both shoulders and rehabilitation is going well. Since I’m not able to extend my arms to create larger works, I’m am working on smaller manageable sized pieces. The energy and positivity that I receive while creating is giving me so much joy!!

Thanks to everyone who has invited me to share a part of their life by commissioning an original painting. I have had put commissions on hold for now but will announce when space is available again.

My Creamery Road Gallery is open by appointment and there is also a great assortment of paintings for sale at Leanne Rood’s Constituency Office on Front Street in Strathroy.

It’s been a busy last few weeks filling orders for Giclee prints and original paintings! Thanks you all for your interest and purchases of my paintings. I’m so honoured that one by one, they make their way into yours and your loved one’s homes!

Christmas is definitely in the air!

I’ve been busy bringing many paintings to two different locations for Christmas art shows!

On display in Ailsa Craig at the Arts Center I have many original paintings as well as my newest work “Bessie and Leona” in print. Below is a post from the Arts Centre, I hope that you’ll be able to visit and support local artists this Christmas!

I am also excited to announce that I have my latest works, a series of original Abstract paintings as well as a number of original paintings for sale in the gallery at Leanne Rood’s Constituency Office on 65 Front Street W in Strathroy ON. You are welcome to visit the gallery anytime during business hours, Monday to Thursday 10 AM - 4 PM. If you are interested in a specific piece, I would be happy to talk to you with any questions that you may have.

EXCITING NEWS! Starting December 3rd, you can do some Christmas shopping at the Ailsa Craig Arts Centre! We will be featuring work from previous exhibitors and local artists so that you can find something unique and one of a kind for that special person on your list. 
We will be open our usual hours: Tues., Thurs., and Sat. from 1 to 4, but will also have extended hours on Thurs., Dec. 8 and Thurs., Dec. 15th from 5:00 until 7:30 to give you a little extra time to shop!  Hope to see you!

We’ve already had a good dumping of snow and a bit of a small thaw! These scenes have been giving me so much painting inspiration!

I have two locations where my current selection of original paintings are for sale for this Christmas season.

The Ailsa Craig Arts Center is announcing a Christmas Shoppe for the month of December. My work will be available for sale there among an amazing group of local artists. 

As well, I have original artwork for sale in the Gallery at Leanne Rood’s Constituency Office located on Front Street in Strathroy ON.

Check out my “Prints for sale”Gallery on my website. My latest painting “ Bessie and Leona “ is now available in print and will make its’s debut at the Ailsa Craig Arts Center this Christmas season. Print Orders take about 2 weeks and gift certificates are a great option too!

I am excited to announce that my latest painting “Bessie and Leona” has been completed for the New Lutheran Ritz Villa Nursing Home in Mitchell ON. What a pleasure it has been to create a work that will resonate with residents of the Rural Village for years to come!

As the cooler weather settles in, I find myself especially busy in my studio!

After completing a large rural scene for a client, I’m thrilled to be starting a vibrant new work!

I’ve been selected to create a large rural scene for the brand new Lutheran Ritz Villa in Mitchell Ontario. This new senior’s facility is comprised of 4 Villages and I am gratefully excited to be a part of this amazing development!

At the moment I am working on the value sketches and will soon start the colour sketches! It’s all valuable time spent in preparation for a thoughtful composition for the final painting. I’ll keep you posted on it’s progress 🤓

As a reminder, a great selection of my original paintings are hanging in Strathroy at a beautiful Gallery in Leanne Rood’s Constituency Office at 65 Front Street West. The hours are 10-4 from Monday to Thursday.

I will be bringing home another sold painting this week for a client. If you’d like to see my work, you are welcome to go in and browse.
